Drawn to Sea is Yvonne Maximchuk’s personal story of her life, her art, her family, her relationships and the friends around her. She has always been drawn to nature and found her additional calling in the sea. This is a story of the people of the North Coast and how they live every day, which is fascinating and different from many of us who live in more urban areas. Her story gives insight into the fury of the sea when traveling with Billy Proctor to the West Coast of BC and Haida Gwaii fishing. You will also learn about the rock in her life, her husband Albert, and how they cope with the unique challenges, love, and building a home. If you cruise in the Broughtons, you will recognize many of the people in this book. The book tells of the unique challenges of living and raising a family on a float home, in a remote area, and how the people are different in some ways but in others no different than you and me. It may be remote, but many of the people share a strong bond, they help each other, they socialize and revel in the unique lifestyle they have chosen.
